Google Expeditions at the Dewing

Thanks to district Technology Integration Specialists Lisa Bailey and Jessica Simpson, Dewing teachers and students spent time today learning about Google Expeditions, a wonderful iPad app that allows students an almost 3-dimensional virtual experience of history and the world.  With over 900 expeditions, teachers have the resources to engage students in global learning opportunities.

Free Preschool Screening

October 26, 2018 (by appointment)

Tewksbury Integrated Preschool is pleased to offer free preschool screening for children who are of preschool age.

If you are curious about your child’s development and whether s/he is meeting developmental milestones, this is a great opportunity to receive some feedback. Through the use of the DIAL-4 screening tool, our early childhood educators review the following areas: cognition, communication and/or motor development.

If you are interested in having your child participate, please contact:

Traffic Patterns for Drop Off and Pick Up

Hello Families,

We are so excited for our students to begin school on Wednesday! Our staff has been working hard to prepare for the arrival of our young learners.

We have created an attachment outlining traffic procedures for drop-off and pick-up. We are also waiting for some additional signs to be delivered and installed. In the meantime, these maps should help outline the different patterns for the various programs. In the attachment, you will see that there are multiple maps labeled by program name. As we are sending this email to all families in PK-2, we have attached all maps, so please check to make sure that you are reviewing the correct one.

We look forward to a great start to the school year!

Thank you,

Alexis Bosworth

Dewing School Rock Garden is Unique

When you next visit the Dewing, take a moment to look at the first installment of what we hope will be a yearly addition to our landscape by our second grade artists.  Thanks to Art Teacher Kristen Kosiba, and with inspiration from Linda Krantz’ book, “Only One You,” our students painted rocks to show the world how they are unique and special.

Dewing office limited summer hours

If you need to contact the Dewing between today and August 20th, here are some helpful hints:

Dewing welcomes new Assistant Principal/Preschool Coordinator

The Loella F. Dewing Elementary School welcomes Mrs. Alexis Bosworth on July 1 as our new Assistant Principal and Preschool Coordinator.  Mrs. Bosworth has been serving the community of Tewksbury since 2011 – first as Dewing Special Education Case Manager, then, for the past two years, as Assistant Director of Student Services at Center School.  Before Tewksbury, she worked for Lowell Public Schools as a Special Education Teacher.

Mrs. Bosworth earned a B.S. in Special Education from Boston University, a M.Ed. in Special Education from Fitchburg State College, and a C.A.G.S. in Educational Leadership from American International College.  She holds DESE licenses in the following areas:

  • Principal/Asst. Principal PK – 6
  • Special Education Administrator – All Levels
  • Teaching Licenses
    • Elementary Education 1 – 6
    • Early Childhood (with and without disabilities) PK – 2
    • Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities PK – 9
    • English as a Second Language PK – 6

Mrs. Bosworth has a wealth of experience in and a true passion for early childhood education.  She has extensive knowledge of early intervention and the transition into public school for our youngest learners, and brings professional development planning experience for inclusive teaching at all grade levels.  She is excited to be returning to an elementary school; to spend time in classrooms and with teachers and students.

We are pleased and proud to have her as part of the Dewing’s administrative team.
