We invite parents and staff of the Dewing School Community to serve on an advisory council to the principal of the school. This is a different body from the PAC.
From the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education: Councils are to assist principals by reviewing the school building budget and developing the school improvement plan. Councils may also take on other responsibilities… as granted by the local school committee. Councils’ school improvement plans are submitted to the local school committee for review and approval.
In general, councils have approximately the same number of parents and teachers on them. At the Dewing, we invite as many folks who are willing to commit to the monthly meetings and who can fit around our conference table.
Our meetings this year will be held virtually on January 27, 2021 (3:30 p.m.), February 24, March 24, April 28, May 26. Our primary focus will be on developing a plan for a new playground area for 3-5 year olds.
