We invite parents and staff of the Dewing School Community to serve on an advisory council to the principal of the school.  This is a different body from the PAC, though both work to support our school.

From the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education: Councils are to assist principals by reviewing the school building budget and developing the school improvement plan. Councils may also take on other responsibilities… as granted by the local school committee. Councils’ school improvement plans are submitted to the local school committee for review and approval.

In general, councils have approximately the same number of parents and teachers on them. At the Dewing, we invite as many folks who are willing to commit to the monthly meetings and who can fit around our conference table.

School Site Council.  Looking for members.  Our primary focus, with the PAC,  will be on re-building community and working on strategies to keep our community together through change.  Meetings are on once a month on the first Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30.    There may be one evening meeting at beginning of year for district to conduct official site council training.

If you are interested in serving on the Dewing Site Council, please send an email to Principal Alexis Bosworth – abosworth@tewksbury.k12.ma.us
