Morning Drop Off Info for Parents

Some helpful information about driving students to school…

  1. The Town of Tewksbury offers free busing to all students.  Please think seriously about taking advantage of this extraordinary benefit.
  2. If you choose to drive your child to school, please observe these school guidelines.  They are in place to ensure student safety and expedite the arrival process.  Parents should stay in the car when dropping school-age children off.  Important thoughts:
    1. Children get to learn how to safely and independently exit a vehicle. Each school-age child should be able to get out of their booster seat/restraint, put on their backpack and exit the vehicle.  They should open the car door.  Our staff will close it for you.
    2. We suggest having your child’s booster seat on the side of the car next to the school side so there needs to be no movement between cars in the parking lot.
  3. Occasionally, especially during the first few weeks of school, children experience anxiety over the separation.  If you and your child are having a day where they will not be able to exit the vehicle on their own, don’t try to use the regular drop-off line.  Pull into a parking space and wait for the other cars to finish, then pull up.  There should be a staff person available to help as needed.  Remember, the goal is for your child to be able to exit the vehicle safely on their own.  When you get out of your car to assist, or go in for extra hugs, or to try to walk with your child to the playground area, you’re not allowing them to grow.  It’s hard sometimes to let go.  I promise they will be all right.

Heath Brook Field Day

Plans are underway for this event and we need you to help!

This year we would like to offer 10 – 12 stations, offering new and different events as well as creative activities.  We are reaching out to you, our school community to help with this!

We are asking for families or individuals to “sponsor” a station or activity for field day.

What this could look like:

  • offering something tried and true such as a few corn hole boards and bags for one station
  • setting up something creative, such as a flamingo patch.  Using 5 yard flamingos and using rings to try to loop the rings onto the flamingo
  • facilitating something more complicated like designing an obstacle course that could be fun and somewhat challenging for our 4-8-year-old kids

YOU design the event and outline the goal of the activity.  It may just be to have fun, win, or complete the activity.  You tell us!

You may stay for the day and run your event or drop off the event for other volunteers to run.  You may also contribute by sponsoring an event by purchasing supplies.

Your event could be on loan to the school or a donation for future use.

Please sign up here with your ideas!

When you sign up, please indicate in the comments section what event/activity you would like to host (ie ring toss, golf ball on spoon race, etc.)  Those interested in volunteering that day but not planning an event, another sign up will be coming out once we have confirmed the schedule for the day.

Date has been confirmed for Thursday June 8th  (rain date Monday the 12th).

Penny Wars Winners: PreK & K Classes!

This Year, Penny Wars was won by the PreK & K classes. They will be enjoying an extra recess and popsicles to celebrate their win. In the hopes of warmer days coming, the PAC is getting ready to reward the classes. If you have a student in either of these grades, please look for this permission slip going home.
