April 13th – Report Cards Issued

A Message From Superintendent Chris Malone

Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff Members,

As we continue to assess our school calendar in relation to snow days, I want to update you on some of the thinking that has occurred recently.  First of all, thank you to all students, parents and staff for their flexible approach on the decision to hold school on Good Friday.  Our attendance was better than expected and we believe it provided students with a more rewarding learning opportunity than a day of school on June 26th.   Currently our last day of school is scheduled for Monday, June 25th.  As we move forward we will continue to examine any and all options (additional hours, alternative projects…) that are in the best interest of students.

Please be aware that some of the options, if pursued, require The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and / or School Committee approval.   There are many pros and cons to each idea along with extensive work that would need to be done with our unions and the School Committee.  Hopefully, we will have a final decision soon after April vacation if there is any consideration to move the last day of school any earlier than Monday, June 25th.   Thank you for all of your support and ideas as we try to address the aftermath of such an intense winter.

Sincerely,

Mr. Chris Malone, Superintendent of Schools
