Mission Statement

The mission of the John F. Ryan School includes promoting an active learning environment that enables student participation and team building. This learning environment encourages students to think critically, reason, and problem solve. Our goal is to work collaboratively with parents and guardians to ensure a high quality educational experience. Students are expected to put forth their best effort and contribute to a safe and productive learning environment.

Principal’s Message

August 2020

Welcome to the John F. Ryan School, a school community proud to have dedicated staff that serve all Tewksbury students in grades 5 and 6.  We strive to educate the whole child: academically, socially, emotionally and physically while celebrating diversity through respect, unity and mindfulness. This year will allow us to work together to make a “new normal” as part of our culture and lives.

No matter which educational model your family chooses, our focus will be on providing students with greater differentiation in the classroom and during Remote Learning at home. We will include project-based learning opportunities, providing students the experience of diving deeper into areas of interest and experiencing learning in a meaningful way. While things are different, I am reminded of the quote by Mark Herzlich: “If we teach today as we did yesterday, we rob our students of tomorrow”. Our staff is dedicated to reaching and teaching each child as an individual and helping each student reach their full potential.

Our school motto, Work hard. Be kind. Anything is possible. Woof!, will help guide us in our work this year. We are excited to embark on this journey with you and your child.

Thank you for partnering with us,

Judi McInnes
