Arrival & Dismissal
Arrival:
- School begins at 8:50. Any student entering school after 8:50 a.m. is considered tardy and will need to be signed into the front office.
- Teacher supervision at the Heath Brook School begins at 8:35 a.m. Students should not be dropped off at the school prior to this time.
- Students arriving between 8:35 – 8:50 a.m. may play outdoors weather permitting.
- It is encouraged that students use bus transportation.
- Car – Parent Drop Off & Pick Up: When arriving, stay to the LEFT of the barricades. Follow the white line as it guides you around the parking lot. Please pull up as close to the car in front of you as possible so we can get as many cars as possible off the street. Starting at 8:35, a staff member will be there to assist your child(ren) in exiting the car. To help with this, your child should be seated behind the driver, and parents should remain in the car whenever possible. In the afternoon, we will release students in the same fashion. For a smooth flow, students should get out of, or into, the car independently as much as possible, so cars behind you can quickly drop off or pick up their child(ren). When leaving, keep to the LEFT side of the barricades along the side of the school building. Finally, exit the property through the exit only driveway.

Dismissal:
- Regular dismissals begin at 3:05 p.m.
- There are times when a student may have to be dismissed early. To obtain permission for an early dismissal, parents are encouraged to indicated the time of dismissal and the adult authorized to pick up the child via Pickup Patrol app. Alternately, parents may communicate with the school office.
- Telephone dismissals are discouraged except in extreme emergencies.
- If it is expected of the school to enforce orders or restrictions such as court -ordered custody/guardianship or temporary/permanent restraining orders, a copy of the document must be on file at the school.
- It is encouraged that students use bus transportation.
Closing of School
- If a parent is not home in the event of an emergency “early school dismissal”, we ask parents to designate a “safe home” along the same bus route, for their child/children to go to in the neighborhood. Parents of students who walk to school are advised to take the same precautions. We recognize that many parents are necessarily away from home during the day. We strongly suggest that children have a safe alternate home to go to and that you regularly remind your child of this fact during the school year.
Visitors
- Visitors are welcome at our school. To minimize interruption and to assure the safety of all our students, all parents/guardians and visitors must stop at the front office to sign in and obtain permission. A visitor’s pass is required to proceed anywhere in the building.
- Please remember to sign out and return a visitor’s pass before exiting the building.
- Anyone who will be volunteering or chaperoning a field trip must complete a CORI form. CORI forms can be found on the Tewksbury School District website.
