August 28, 2018
Dear Trahan School Parents,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 School Year! I hope you and your family had a wonderful and exciting summer! It is hard to believe that the new school year is already upon us. I am excited to be part of the Trahan Community and look forward to a wonderful year!
The Trahan staff has been very busy preparing to welcome our students on Wednesday, August 29th. A special thank you to our custodians, Mr. Thuillier and Mr. Bishop, who worked hard all summer to ensure that our building is ready for the school year.
I am happy to welcome new staff members this year to the Trahan:
Ms. Lauren Cooper: Literacy Specialist
Ms. Lindsay Kelly- Grade 4 Teacher
We have a wonderful PAC here at the Trahan! I encourage you to be a part of our school community by participating in a large number of events and fundraisers that directly benefit our students! I am a huge believer in a school being not just an academic institution, but also an important part of our community as a whole.
Our school hours are 8:45am-3:10pm. Any student who is not in homeroom by 8:45 am will be considered tardy. Drop off will begin at 8:25 AM each morning and will take place in front of the cafeteria, once a staff member is present outside. For safety reasons, students are required to only exit on the passenger side of the vehicle. If you drive your child to school and arrive prior to 8:25 AM, your child must remain in your car until a staff member is present outside. If your child rides the bus, routes have been posted at:
Dismissal will begin each day at 3:10 pm. Parking for parents who are picking up their child from school is available on the side parking lot by the playground. Parking is not allowed on the driveway in front of the cafeteria. Parents must enter the building through the cafeteria door starting at 3:10 pm and sign out your child each day. If someone else other than a parent will be dismissing your child, we must be notified in writing whom it will be. We will work diligently to allow for a quick, efficient, and safe drop off and dismissal. Please be sure to inform the office by note or email (email@example.com) if your child will not be taking the bus home on a regular basis, including walkers and consistent “pickups.” Also, it will greatly help us if we receive a note or email if your child will be dismissed early on a particular day. If your child is absent from school or tardy for any reason, please call or email the school office before 9:15 AM. If your child is absent from school or tardy, please make sure a note explaining the reason for the absence or tardiness is turned in when your child returns to school. Frequent absences and/or tardies will require a note from your child’s pediatrician.
Any parent who wishes to volunteer or chaperone a field trip or school event must have a completed CORI on file at our school. This form can be obtained from your child’s teacher or from the front office. Please remember that a new CORI must be completed each school year and that we must have a copy of your driver’s license along with the completed form
If you come to school at any time during the day, visitors must sign in at the main office
and receive a visitor’s pass sticker from the main office with a signature from the
school secretary. Visitors must always have a specific purpose for being in the school
and must report directly to their “visiting” location within the school. For the safety of our
staff and students, and for consistent time on learning, visitors should not be in any other places of the school except for their “visiting” location. Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation.
In order for children to be successful, all staff, students, and parents need to work together as one. Please be sure to reinforce at home with your child the importance of learning, homework completion assessment preparation, and the significance of positive behavior.
Our official Open House will take place on Thursday, September 13th, 2018 from 6pm-7: 30 pm.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns. I am so excited for the coming year and look forward to meeting all of you!
Mr. Jay Harding
