Room 3 - Mrs. Marsh
We are all busy preparing for the start of the new school year. The excitement is beginning to build, and so, to ward off any ‘twinges’ of anxiety that may also be forming, here is something concrete you can do to get ready: shop! I hope this arrives while the stores are all having sales, so at least you can get a few bargains!
Colored pencils and crayons
Pencils and erasers – a steady supply (not all-at-once the first day). Check-in with your student throughout the year, you’d be surprised how quickly these are “consumed”.
Ruler: standard + metric: the more simple, the better
Pens: red for editing and blue for partner work
1 one-subject notebook– wide ruled
1 laminated 2-pocket folder: red, please
1 ‘marble’ composition notebook
1 accordion folder (the kind that has a fold-over flap to secure the contents)
1 “steno” notebook
Also, ‘at home’ supplies:
Loose-leaf/filler paper – wide ruled (keep at home for homework)
A dictionary and thesaurus to keep at home for homework
3 x 5 index cards (to make flash cards at home)
Note: Please, no large Trapper Keepers or pencil boxes. They will not fit in the desks with all the textbooks. Paper bags are sufficient for book covers; if you wish to purchase cloth covers, they should be extra large or jumbo.
Classroom requests (any of the following would be most appreciated):
Bring your summer reading list so that we can put it in your portfolio.
Do not bring toys or electronic devices such as cell phones, mp3 players, video games, etc. to school.
Please come to school with these items:
One pair of children’s scissors (labeled with your name)
a glue stick
one pencil box
two 70 page notebooks
two pocket folders
one box of tissues & one box of wipes to share
one red pen
crayons or washable markers
Please replace these items as they are used.
We like to sing to you on your birthday. And, you may bring in stickers or pencils to celebrate … but no food treats for the class.
