At the early elementary level, work to develop a strong social emotional foundation is at the forefront of everything we do. During the 2025-2026 school year, we are pleased to offer additional opportunities for our students to focus on developing these skills. Instruction will be embedded into all academics, but the start of the day will begin with an SEL block. This dedicated time allows teachers to connect with their students through welcoming routines, setting a positive tone for the day, and fostering social-emotional learning. It helps every student feel included, safe, and supported, while providing staff and students with a calm, reflective start\u2014rather than beginning the day feeling rushed or overwhelmed. It also offers a valuable opportunity to review expectations and check in with students to understand how they’re doing and what they may need to be successful.<\/p>\n
Additionally, we are pleased to implement a targeted SEL block or ‘special’ once per week for all Kindergarten and Grade 1 students. This class will be taught by a School Adjustment Counselor and will be another opportunity for our students to develop and practice these important skills.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
